Recently, the 2024 Low Carbon Building Industry Forum was held at the Shoucheng Times Center in the southeast area of Shougang Park. At the event, the Negative Carbon Demonstration Building of the Shoucheng Times Center, the first negative carbon building in Beijing, was officially unveiled. The China Building Energy Conservation Association and Beijing Green Exchange awarded the negative carbon demonstration building the “Zero Energy Building Certification (Design Phase)” and “Carbon Neutrality” building certificate respectively.

The Negative Carbon Demonstration Building is located at the intersection of Yunkang Street and No. 2 Profile East Road in Zone B of the Shoucheng Times Center Project, which is a four-storey brown-yellow building with a semi-enclosed photovoltaic panel curtain wall structure and an embedded terrace. According to the person in charge of the Project Marketing Center, the building has applied a new set of “negative carbon building standards”. Through the three paths of building energy conservation and emission reduction, green energy substitution and increasing carbon sinks, it comprehensively utilizes a solar photovoltaic system, intelligent control system, high-performance enclosure system, high-efficiency cold and heat source and electromechanical system, carbon sink system and other technologies. In the stages of material production, building, operation and maintenance, it achieved negative carbon emissions in the operation stage and low-carbon demonstration in the whole life cycle. According to the relevant statistics, it has a total building area of 2,728 m2 and annual energy consumption of 77,900 kWh. The annual power generation of the photovoltaic system is 164,300 kWh and the comprehensive energy efficiency rate of the building reaches 100%. The annual carbon emissions are 52.092 tons, with an annual emission reduction of 96.013 tons and an annual carbon difference of -43.921 tons, fully meeting the requirements of negative carbon building demonstration.

The event was jointly organized by the Shougang Fund and Beijing Green Exchange, and attended by over 80 experts, scholars, associations and representatives of entrepreneurs from green and low-carbon industries. Experts and scholars in related fields said that the Negative Carbon Demonstration Building of the Shoucheng Times Center is a pioneering and technologically leading breakthrough in the green building industry, and will have important reference and promotion significance for the building industry to achieve green and low-carbon development.

At the beginning of planning, the Shoucheng Times Center Project was designed and constructed in accordance with the green three-star and LEED gold standards to create a green and healthy industrial park. The person in charge of the Project Marketing Center stated that the Shoucheng Times Center will take the opportunity of the appearance of the Negative Carbon Demonstration Building to build it into a model for the low-carbon construction industry in Beijing, and actively interact with the industry to strive to make the building a product technology display platform and industry exchange platform for green and low-carbon enterprises, thereby helping to promote the high-quality development of Beijing’s economy.
