In order to welcome the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, a large-scale theme squatting interview activity organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC was conducted in Shougang. 

An interview delegation of more than 10 mainstream media organizations, including Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China National  Radio, Legal Da ily, Beijing Daily, and others came to Shougang to dive deep into the first line of iron and steel production, the marine “dream factory”, known as Jingtang Company. They entered Shougang Beijing Park, one of the first batch of transformation pilots of old urban industrial areas, the pilot area for comprehensive reform of the national service industry, the national experimental area for sustainable development, the Zhongguancun national independent innovation demonstration zone, and the national intelligent city pilot, to feel Shougang’s leap from mountain to sea and witness its change from fire to ice.

From April 9th to April 12th, the media delegation went to the sand table, ironmaking blast furnace, steelmaking main control room, hot rolling 1580 production line, seawater desalination, finished product wharf, and other parts of Jingtang Company to learn about the development course, the production status of each production line, and its participation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development of Jingtang Company in detail.

From April 16th to 19th, the media delegation came to the office area of the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympic Games in Shougang Park, the “Four Pieces of Ice” in the Winter Training Center, the athletes’ apartment, the three blast furnaces, Xiuchi, and other places to learn about the overall planning of Shougang Park and the transformation of Xishi Winter Olympic Square, “Four Pieces of Ice”, three blast furnaces, and so on.

 “Our General Party Branch visits here to carry out Party Day activities!” Standing on the floor of the Curling Hall of the Winter Training Center, Pan Fuda exclaimed this with excitement. As a reporter of “Beijing Daily”, Pan Fuda has become a frequent visitor to Shougang. “In Jingtang Company, we really greatly aim to widen our horizon. We have the first super large ironmaking blast furnace of 5,500 cubic meters in China, the unmanned crane system, the most advanced production technology, and we have seen that Shougang has made great achievements in seawater desalination and circular economy, and at the same time, we have seen the spirit of Jingtang employees who dare to study and bear hardships. Today, when we come to Shougang Beijing Park, the original old factory has been transformed into a model of urban comprehensive service provision for the Winter Olympics, and is becoming a new landmark of the city’s revival. It makes us feel the charm from mountain to sea, from fire to ice, and we are very lucky to witness the whole process of Shougang’s relocation and transformation.

Zhou Xiaopeng of “Legal Daily” was visiting Shougang for the first time. After nearly two weeks of squatting interviews, he was shocked and sincerely admired: “I am shocked because Jingtang Company is a modern steel city with high-end equipment, which is very different from the steel factory in one’s imagination. The automation of the equipment, the beautiful environment, and the spirit of the workers all give a fresh feeling. On the other hand, as a large state-owned enterprise with a hundred years of history, Shougang’s determination and change in transformation and upgrading are admirable. Through utilizing used equipment, it has become the base of the Winter Olympic Games. These factories and blast furnaces can carry the memory of a century of Shougang to continue on the road. It touched me a lot. The 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC is also the centenary of Shougang’s construction. Coming to Shougang at such a special time, I will better publicize Shougang through my own work and publicize the glorious achievements of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the motherland.”
