Focus on steel-making for 30 years, show ingenuity with furnace 

Guo Yuming is the Operation Head of Steel-making Operation Department and Chief Skill Operation Expert of Shougang Group Co., Ltd. He has led the converter combined blowing project team to make technological breakthroughs and overcome setbacks, making the full furnace service blowing ratio reaching up to 100%. The carbon oxygen product in whole furnace reduced from 0.0021 to 0.00195 and to 0.00188, “going from 3 to 2 and then to 2”. By climbing the peak step by step, it shifted Shougang steel-making technology from “following” to “leading” in the industry. Guo Yuming is still unremittingly making outstanding contributions to casting steel, and respecting the craftsmanship spirit of model workers, so as to demonstrate and encourage the latecomers. No.1 converter of the Steelmaking Operation Department of Shougang Group Co., Ltd. is named “Guo Yuming Furnace”. 

Develop high-end maritime work steel to help exploit combustible ice

Yang Chunwei is a hull steel development technician of Steel Rolling Department of Shouqin Corporation. She looks tender but is actually tough. She and her team take “develop the high-end market, manufacture high-end products, serve high-end customers” as the goal. In the research and development of lightweight and high-load marine work steel, she tackled thickness control technology, with the weight deviation lower than 1.5%, and the surface quality is comparable to that of “blue steel” for Huangpu River Project. In the first three quarters of 2017, 144,000 tons of maritime work steel was supplied to high-end customers, including 400 thousand tons of super large ore carriers exceeding the aircraft carrier capacity for the construction of Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.; in particular, it has become the steel for “Blue Whale 1”, the world’s largest ultra-deep water semi-submersible drilling rig, which helps China to successfully exploit for the first time deep-sea combustible ice.

Study and train hard to lay a solid foundation, and do the best at work

Wang Xiaodong is the Shift Foreman of the 8th Blast Furnace Operation Area of Changzhi Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., who strives to be a learning worker. With a high school diploma, he learns very hard, has obtained 4 professional diplomas and qualification certificates of 3 types of work. At present, he continues to further study the metallurgical engineering course of USTB. He always does the best on his position, leading the operation area to complete the “bit consumption, tuyere consumption, breakdown time, fuel ratio, iron nozzle splashing, coal injection gun life” and other technical problems, summarizing the “blast furnace system 360 physical examination work method” to ensure the smooth operation of the blast furnace, which reduced consumption. In order to avoid blast furnace blowing through the tuyere, he developed the on-line tuyere opening tool to break through the operation problems, and has applied for a national patent.

A pioneer of the Belt and Road and builder of North African steel plants 

Qian Jiang is the Project Manager of the First Metallurgical Construction Engineering Branch of Shougang Construction Group Co., Ltd., who led the Project Department to build the Algerian TOSYALI230 ten-thousand-ton steel-making project, making him the pioneer in overseas market layout in North Africa under the guidance of the state’s “the Belt and Road” strategy of Shougang Group. He organized the Project Department to overcome the extreme desert climate of “burying sand to cook eggs”, and through scientific construction, he fought hard day and night, breaking through the thorny problems such as equipment construction of distant seaborne gathering port and rare 200 ton-steel structure hoisting, and has created the high quality and fast pace of engineering construction. The completed steel-making and oxygen making plants stand tall on the ground, which have witnessed the development of Sino-Arab friendship, and set a good image of Chinese enterprises.

Striving to be the first, Shougang Women’s Basketball Team makes outstanding merit

Sun Xiaoyu is the female coach of the sports company’s basketball club. She loves Shougang sports cause. From Shougang youth women basketball to Shougang women basketball, she has been fighting for 20 consecutive years. Due to her tough fighting style, outstanding skills and combat accomplishment as well as steady performance on the court, she has become the main team member. Particularly, she has served as the team leader for many years and overcome disease and injury trouble, rushing ahead, keeping up and winning at the crucial moments. She has made contributions to the winning of WCBA women’s basketball league champion of Shougang women’s basketball team in the three seasons, 2011-2012, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. Now, the 2017-2018 season is in full swing. Pledging to win three championships in a roll, Sun Xiaoyu and her team members are full of confidence.
